Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) is a surgical procedure in which excess tissue in the throat is removed in order to widen the airway, allowing air to flow through unimpeded. Tissues removed may include the uvula, soft palate, tonsils, and adenoids. It may be recommended for patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea who don’t benefit from continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.
