Qualification Requirement
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Communication skills are essential. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree and a degree in Medical Assisting; or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare the exam rooms for patients and physicians.
- Stock rooms prior to the morning clinic with clean instruments, supplies and brochures.
- Assist patients to rooms; take vital signs, a chief complaint, brief history and update medication lists, including herbs and vitamins, document in EHR.
- Enter new patient history forms in EHR.
- Assist the physician in the exam room.
- Schedule surgeries; take charts to insurance for pre-certification.
- Prepare surgery and consultation charges.
- Take phone messages off voice mail or e-mail in a timely fashion, relaying them to the physician for answers and return calls to patients, pharmacies or other physicians.
- Assist with surgical procedures in the office.
- Keep inventories as assigned.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Assist any physician or M.A. as needed.
- Clean rooms weekly.
- Be CPR certified and maintain certification.
